Thus, as expected, the Chinese New Year here in Malaysia will be
celebrated for at least two days (some say, four days), not only to
coincide with February 14th, Valentine’s Day, but also as a time for
merrymaking, family reunions, street-dancing, soumptous meals with
one’s friends and relatives and of course, firecrackers and fireworks.
And to make the occasion even more festive, the government has
declared two consecutive days as legal holidays, plus the entire week
of mid-semestral break from classes at all levels. And naturally,
the lovers themselves publicly wear red: red dress, red shirt, red
shoes, red ribbon or tie, and so on.

This is the type of BALANCE that I have been looking for: "heaven on earth" while preparing for "eternal bliss" that is heaven. Too often, we Christians are told by pastors that we can't (or should not) be "too worldly," which translates into depriving ourselves with material goods and maybe the simple pleasures of life (like watching movies, growing punk hair, or playing 'Starcraft'). The 'balancing' part here is to constantly fix your gaze upon Jesus, who will guide you along the way - if you ALLOW HIM.
